The forest around him was ancient, the trees stood tall and proud. Their thickly leaved branches obscured the daylight, creating streaks of golden light, molting the forest with ever shifting shadows.
The soft crunch of dead leaves, and the swish of a cloak could be heard in the silence of the ancient wood. Sik nether spoke, nor made any quick movements, the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. A sure sign he was being watched. He kept his bow ready, and an arrow loosely notched. Just in case. He assured himself. He'd reached the edge of the wood a few days ago and entered with confidence. Most of which was now lost in caution. He hadn't traveled alone most his life and learned nothing.
Just when he was certain something would pounce, the air seemed to ripple, and the noise returned. He stopped in complete surprise, looking around him. Everywhere he now looked there was activity, where before it was eerily silent, and movement was unseen. Different colored birds, and woodland creatures now abounded around him. The noise was deafening after two days of silence.
Finally he looked in front of him and...there she was.
Putting away his bow, and replacing his arrows, he gave a slight bow to the woman sitting before him.
"Madam Dria. I'm here for my ride."
He gazed upon the old woman with respect in his gleaming golden eyes. It was said she was crazy. But, what did that matter? Even if she was, she was his only hope. And therefore she was to be respected.

She sat upon the rock not moving as Sik came. She could feel the tension crackle yet slowly melt as he saw her. A cold wave swept over her as a black cat with blood red eyes stepped from behind the rock. Large sabers curled down from his mouth giving him a chilling look. "I would like to handle this one." The voice was cool and a monotone through her mind. "As you wish Kromio." Her thought clung then shrank away as she remained sitting there.
Slowly Kromia made his way over and sat infront of Sik. Blood red eyes glinted as he thought to him. "Greetings Sik Marrok." Smirk slid onto his features as he focused on Sik.
Madam Dria's eyes held a bewildered look. She watched as Kromio sat before Sik. A shiver ran up and down her spine. This hadn't happened since Sinner came to get his ride. Something about this boy has attracted Kromio.

Sik stiffened as a huge black cat came to sit before him. Its long sharp sabers merely a foot away from him. His face became impassive, as he gazed into blood-red eyes. What was this creature? And why did it wish to speak with him?
Inside, Sik was quavering. To be so close to such a creature would unsettle anyone. But, for Sik, it was just painful. Dark creatures... brought only pain. And the memories.
He could still see her... white-blonde hair streaming out before her, as she raced down the hill from their home to the glittering blue lake. Laughing as he caught her, and swept her up in his arms, spinning around in circles till they fell, laughing. *Then a flash in his mind* Nayasha screaming... 'Sik! S..i..k...." Her dying voice chocking on its own blood....
Blinking Golden eyes, he brought himself back to the present once more.
"Greetings," he replied, face impassive, though the slight glitter of sorrow couldn't be erased from the golden eyes.

Blood red eyes watched as he blanked out for a second caught in his own world. Finally he returned sorrow flickering through golden pools. One word escaped past his lips. Mada Dria still sat behind them watching intently. "Leave us." The voice was firm and no one would dare argue. Madam Dria dipped her head and rose disappearing into the brush. Kromio took a step back so he wouldn't crowd Sik.
"Now that she is gone we may talk freely. I am Kromio also a guarder of the eggs. Madam Dria is crazy so the council placed me here to guard them as well. "
Kromio noticed how Sik eyed him warily and closed his eyes. Suddenly a wind whirrled round him and where the cat had once stood a short boy stood rough black hair swaying with the wind. His sabers and blood red eyes gave away the fact that he was still Kromio.

Sik's eyes widened a little with apprehension. All that he had though about the darker element was now in question. The creature before him was obviously dark, and yet... there was a strange honor to him. Blinking, he crossed his arms over his wide chest, for lack of anything better to do with them.
"I am honored to meet you... sir." the last word, said slowly. Though oddly enough, with no rancor. He'd always thought things would be different... in this situation.
"But, why do you wish to speak with me?"

Eyes glittered slyly as he addressed him properly. Then a question came and he smirked. Now he would reveal the true reason he had revealed himself to Sik. The sole purpose he had been roused by Sik's presence and why he had sent Madam Dria away.
"Have you ever thought about being a leader Sik? Have you ever noticed the stronger aurora around you and the intelligence that make others look up to you? Indeed Sik you have great potential. That is why I have a proposition for you. I'd like you to be leader of the Lightening Tribe. On behalf of the council I will teach you anything you need to know about your ride or in riding. I'm not usually so keen on picking leaders but I feel you would do what's right for the tribe. So do you accept?"
The smirk stayed on his face and for a moment it slipped to a smile but vanished into a straight line keeping his reputation and cold and evil.

Stunned, Sik watched the creature for any sign of a jest. The half smile, and amused look faded from his own face, as he seriously considered his offer.
Should I? He thought to himself. Why not? Why not him? He thought over the offer for a few minutes. Head down, and a frown creasing his brows.
Raising golden eyes, he looking into the blood-red ones before him.
"I accept. Though there is much I do not know. I believe I can learn."
The answer came slowly, as if he was unsure of its welcome.

The smile came again onto his features and his eyes brightened. It stayed longer though glad that he had found a good leader for the Lightening tribe.
"Good. Oh and Leader Marrok if you'd like I could come with you to the Lightening village and help you with things until they run smoothly. Only if you'd like though. Now if you would be so kind as to follow me I must present you to the eggs."
He bowed yet it was awkward. He wasn't really used to his human form. Then he lead the way toward a small cluster of trees. Slowly he lead Leader Marrok into a small clearing. Everything was yellow and white in the sunlight. Pushing back a bush a small nest of five eggs was revealed. A fresh tray of food was set out along with water.
[center]"Just sit here and wait for an egg to break. Your ride will choose you so don't try to persuade them to come out for it will not work."[center]
The last part was a joke and a rumbling laugh came from Kromio's vocals. Then with another bow he left Leader Marrok with the eggs.

Sik nodded as Kromio left the clearing, staring at the eggs. They were beautiful, gleaming, all nestled together in the sunlight. He stood for awhile, though once nothing happened quickly, he found a large flat rock off to the side of the nest. Walking over, he sat, eyes glued to the eggs. As he sat, he thought.
He would become the leader of the lightning clan. And he would take Kromio's help. He would need the help Kromio offered, and would gladly accept it. Being a leader meant knowing when you needed help, and asking for it... even if it was in a place he had least expected. Or so he was taught.

Nothing stirred within the eggs. All was quiet for once but it seemed to give off an eerie presence. Something inside an egg had awoken though. It stirred only lightly which meant it hadn't made a sound or moved the egg.

After a few hours of nothing, Sik leaned back against the big elm that butted up against the flat rock. He contemplated his life so far. He had love, and lost it. He had a family, but that was long ago and far away. He would be the leader of the lightning clan, and he must learn as much as he could in a short amount of time. But, lucky for him, Sik learned quickly.
His golden eyes watched the eggs without seeming to stare. Those eggs held his hopes for the future, and for once he had nothing to say, nothing to think, and nothing to do. His future rested upon him gaining a wolf, and if he failed.... He wouldn't think about it. Shaking himself, and whispering harshly to gain control of his wayward thoughts, he sighed. Then rested his head against the rough bark of the tree.
He decided to focus on his future. What would he do as a leader? How would he figure out what was right and what wasn't? He didn't know, and could only pray he'd figure out something.
A breeze blew softly through the trees making the leaves dance, casting molten light upon the eggs. It lifted his ebony locks and seemed to play with them. That breeze felt good, cool in the heat of the day. It made him smile, though it wasn't a true one, it was there all the same.

As the light breeze swept across the eggs a ride awakened. It opened its eyes and lifted its head turning to where the scent of a man was coming from. Nostrils flared slightly as it rose to its small paws. Walking up to the egg shell it pawed at it curiously. Then the small ride began to run in circles. Each time he got faste and faster until he was running at top speed. Now the egg was shaking violently.

A noise awoke the dozing Sik. The playful breeze tossed his hair around him, fanning his locks out around him like a cloak. He sat up, pushing his windswept hair out of his face. The noise that had awoken him continued, and as he watched an egg began to shake. Softly at first, then more and more violently, until it seemed to hum.
His sleep filled eyes just watched it, stunned. Then, slowly, he got to his feet. Boot heels clicking on the smooth rock as he stepped down onto the leafy floor. His golden eyes never left the sight of that rocking, shaking oblong form. He couldn't take his eyes off it, though it had never occurred to him to try.
Walking softly, silently, holding his breath; almost as if it would stop if he made a sound. He reached the nest, and stood (not quiet over the egg) watching.
